Homes Not Jails is an all-volunteer, non-violent, direct action organization which believes that people should sleep in vacant buildings and not in front of them. We open up vacant buildings for people to live in and protest societal norms which allow buildings to remain vacant when people are living on the streets. Since 1992 we have opened hundreds of squats and have engaged in dozens of public protests to achieve our goal.
